MANILA, Philippines- A former beauty queen and model is among the successful examinees of the
2016 Philippine bar exam. Allana Mae Babayen-on, who placed fourth, said competing in beauty pageants helped her prepare for the grueling exams.
Allana compared responding to questions during pageant’s question and answer portion to answering questions in bar exams.

"For example, dahil nandiyan ka sa stage, whatever ang itanong sa iyo o hindi pa tapos ang program, just go through it," Allana said.

"Kagaya rin 'yan sa Bar na kahit nakakapagod, you have to go through it and hopefully your efforts will be rewarded -- like what happened to me,” she added.

The former beauty queen revealed that her family and friends had set high expectations for her to perform well in the exam. However, she got shocked after learning that she is among the historic top 10 of the country’s toughest professional exam.
Just like beauty queens who often doubt their answers during pageants, Allana also had doubts about her answers in the exam.
"Hindi na ako apektado because I thought na baka, I could have answered better or mas maganda sigurong sagot ang iba. So there was always doubt but apparently, it was unfounded,” Allana revealed.
Allana, 28, hails from Barangay Belen, Banate in Iloilo. She finished elementary school in Banate Central School and high school in Saint Paul-Barotac Nuevo. In 2009, she graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Political Science at West Visayas State University. She then obtained her law degree from the University of San Agustin College of Law in Iloilo City.
Currently, she is employed by the Bids and Awards Committee in Iloilo Provincial Capitol.
