The exact time of occurrence was recorded at 09:19:00 a.m. with epicenter at 109.12°N, 126.42°E - 022 km N 81° E of Tandag, Surigao Del Sur.
The earthquake that occurred has a tectonic origin with 28 km depth of focus.
The strong quake was recorded at Intensity II in Bislig, Surigao Del Sur and Intensity I in Borongan, Eastern Samar.
Netizens on Twitter shared they felt the earthquake in other parts of Mindanao including Davao and Bayugan.
There is no expected damage after the quake but Phivolcs warned of of possible aftershocks.
