MANILA, Philippines - The Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) topped the schools for employers' main source of fresh graduate hires, Jobstreet announced in its 2017 Fresh Graduates Report as released on Wednesday, March 15.
According to Jobstreet's employer survey, most of the graduates hired in 2016 were from PUP at 56%.
It was further revealed that PUP graduates have dominated in the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), retail, real estate and manufacturing industries and second on food and beverage, tourism, materials and construction.
Based on Fresh Graduate Survey last year, PUP graduates possess the most traits many companies look for in applicants. Respondent-companies state that PUP graduates, in general, are very hard-working, often going the extra mile in their job, do not tend to complain about tasks and do not give up on assignments given to them.
The University of the Philippines (UP) and University of Santo Tomas (UST) ranked second and third, 46% and 44%, respectively. UP is the school of choice for technical and corporate employers particularly in the Information Technology (IT) and Education.
The list is followed by De La Salle University (DLSU) and Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU), both with 39%.
In terms of employers' assessment of performances of fresh hires, UP grads scored highest, followed by alumni of PUP and ADMU.
