MANILA, Philippines - For the first time, the phenomenal loveteam of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza, collectively known as AlDub, was tested on primetime on GMA-7's newest romantic-comedy series "Destined to be Yours."

"Destined to be Yours" (DTBY) has premiered on Monday, February 27, via Telebabad block and worldwide through GMA Pinoy TV. But how did the AlDub's newest TV show fare in TV ratings based on service providers Kantar Media and Nielsen TV Audience Measurement (NUTAM) of AGB Nielsen?
According to AGB Nielsen, the light romance teleserye was able to topple rival program on ABS-CBN, My Dear Heart, 22.5% compared to the latter's 19.6% or just a slim 2.9-point advantage.
Meanwhile, Kantar Media reported that the drama television series of ABS-CBN gripped more nationwide viewers, 29.1% versus 20.2% of AlDub's program. The Kapamilya network's drama series on Monday featured the mother and daughter reunion of Margaret (Coney Reyes) and Gia (Ria Atayde).
Coco Martin's “FPJ’s Ang Probisnyano” kept its lead in primetime hitting 42.8% while "Destined to be Yours" ranked eighth throughout the day behind noontime program "It's Showtime," Kantar Media revealed.
My Dear Heart, topbilled by child star Nayomi Reyes, Zanjoe Marudo and Bella Padilla, aired from 8:58 p.m. to 9:43 p.m. Meanwhile, Destined to Be Yours aired from 8:48 p.m. to 9:39 p.m.

Official hashtags of the rival programs also trended on Twitter while the shows were airing on Monday, #MDHMagkalaban and #DestinedToBeYoursWorldPremiere, with the latter generated over 2 million tweets along with the tagline DTBY WorldPremiere.
Netizens gushed over the start of the love story of Alden's Benjie Rosales, a serious architect with lofty aspirations, and Sinag Obispo (Maine), a happy-go-lucky radio DJ devoted to her family.
