MANILA, Philippines – Davao Mayor Rodrigo Duterte officially announced on his Facebook that he is no longer interested in running for President in the 2016 elections amid the overflowing support from netizens.
"A little over two years ago, I posted in the government website over the Internet that I was not interested in the Presidency. Nothing has changed. I am comfortable where I am now," Duterte said.
"If Inday Sara would want it, she has the choice of running in 2016 or the next election. Personally, the earlier the better. I want to retire. I am tired. Give the presidency to the one who wants it. I don’t," Duterte added.

On Friday, October 16, which is the last day of filing of COC, #DuterteSerye has trended on Twitter with netizens still expecting Duterte to change his mind.
Speculations that he's flying to Manila to file COC few hours before the closing at COMELEC also went viral. GMA News through its source has clarified that the Mayor is still in Davao on the last hour of filing.
