Krisel Mallari interrupted graduation speech

MANILA, Philippines - Krisel Mallari, a graduate student of Sto. Niño Parochial School (SNPS) in Quezon City has been the viral topic recently as her controversial graduation speech being salutatorian was interrupted by school officials.

In the 4-minute video which was posted on Youtube on Saturday, Mallari was delivering a speech that was still in the early parts of her address when the announcer suddenly interrupted her, saying "Thank you very much, Ms. Krisel Mallari."

Mallari was saying when the announcer interrupted.

However, Mallari continued her speech and said: ""Maraming tao ang nagbulag-bulagan sa isang sistemang marumi at kaduda-duda.

Full Text: Krisel Mallari's graduation speech (welcome remarks)

Though the speech was interrupted, the full text was released online with a strong statement: "I am Krisel Mallari, a Filipino citizen who would rather choose to fail with honor, than win by cheating. Adios!

"A pleasant morning to my fellow batchmates, to my teachers, guests, welcome to the 13th Commencement Exercises.

Sabi nga sa isang pelikula ni Robin Williams, “You are the world’s greatest dad”.

My belief is stronger than your doubt”.

Let me finish this in style and say my last words in the vernacular language of the world. I am Krisel Mallari, a Filipino citizen who would rather choose to fail with honor, than win by cheating. Adios!"

SNPS airs statement: admits stopping salutatorian's speech

The Sto. Nino Parochial School (SNPS) has admitted the incident of stopping the speech of Mallari because it was not the "welcome remarks" originally submitted to them and may damage the reputation of the batch valedictorian.

The officials also claimed that they already showed to Krisel's father Ernesto, the grades and computation of every subjects but did not disclosed grades of the valedictorian as it violates the school policies. The school also said Ernesto shouted at several teachers.

The school also said that Krisel complained about her grades at the end of every school year.

Laging ipinapaliwanag at kinakausap sila ng paaralan tungkol dito," said an official statement of the school.

On the other hand, Mallari has denied the accusations of the school and said that computation of grades is not yet given until now.

SNPS valedictorian breaks silence: Top award ‘not for you’, says to Krisel

The valedictorian whose identity was withheld said that Krisel accept that she could not get the top place in their batch. She was accused of cheating just to get the valedictorian award as implied on Krisel's speech.

“Krisel, I wish that you learn to accept that some things are not meant for you. You should not tarnish the reputation of the school. Many were hurt (by your allegations),” said the valedictorian.

She also denied allegations that her family bribed the Catholic school so that she would be named class valedictorian.

“The school did nothing wrong. The allegation that our family bribed the school so that I can be the valedictorian is not true. We are not that rich to do that,” she said.

DepEd questions timing of QC salutatorian's speech; probe has started

The Department of Education (DepEd) on Wednesday questioned whether the graduation was the right forum for the student to "express freely" her thoughts and issues against the school.

Secretary Armin Luistro said airing the grievances during graduation does not give the school a chance to answer back.

On their part, DepEd already launched an investigation asking the school to explain within 48 hours what really happened.

Mallari’s case was also raised to the DepEd National Capital Region Division and the National Office.
