MANILA, Philippines - Pope Francis arrives in Villamor Airbase, Manila around 5:30 in the afternoon on Thursday, January 15, 2015.
Pope Francis came from Sri Lanka, the first leg of his Asian trip.
Sri Lankan Airline Airbus 340 flight UL 4111 carrries Pope Francis to the Philippines. Church bells all over the country pealing their bells to welcome the pontiff.
The pontiff will go on a motorcade to his official residence at the Apostolic Nunciature in Taft Avenue, Manila.
The following morning, January 16, Pope Francis will be officially welcomed by President Benigno S. Aquino III at Malacañan Palace on J. P. Laurel Street in Manila. The Pope will also meet Philippine authorities and members of the diplomatic corps.
