MANILA, Philippines - The first episode of ABS-CBN's top-rating 'The Voice of the Philippines' Season 2 The Battles Round starts tonight, December 6, 2014. The four coaches will begin to trim down their teams in the battles but they will also introduce the power to steal artists from one another will make the stakes even higher for them.
Coaches Apl de Ap, Sarah Geronimo, Bamboo, and Lea Salonga will choose two artists from their respective teams to perform a song and select a winner from each battle who will advance to the next stage of the competition –the knockouts.
However, the eliminated artists may get a second chance if another coach decides to steal them. If two or more coaches want to steal a losing artist, it’s up to the artist to choose the team he or she wants to join. A coach may only steal two artists throughout the battle rounds.
This Saturday, expect a grand showdown of vocal prowess between Bradley Holmes and Jason Fernandez of Team Apl (“I Would Do Anything for Love”), Daniel Ombao and Jason James of Team Sarah (“On Bended Knee”), Rita Martinez and Suy Galvez of Team Bamboo (“Tainted Love”), and Philippe Go and Timmy Pavino of Team Lea (“Forevermore”).
The program will also serve up five tough bouts this Sunday (Dec 7) with Team Sarah’s Kokoi Baldo vs Elmerjun Hilario (“To Be With You”) and Shaira Opsimar vs Monique Lualhati (“Lady Marmalade”), Team Lea’s Mark Avila vs Mark Cando (“This I Promise You”) and Humfrey Nicasio vs Leah Patricio (“Forever”),and Team Bamboo’s Ramonne Rodriguez vs Lougee Basabas (“To Love Somebody”).
How did the coaches come up with the pairings amid the artists’ differences in genre and style? Which artists will advance to the knockouts? Which ones will be saved by the coaches from elimination by stealing them? Find out on 'The Voice' this weekend.
