MANILA, Philippines - Reports confirmed that comedienne Tia Pusit died at the age of 66 late Thursday, October 2, 2014.
Tia Pusit's sister Nova Villa told DZMM that she passed away at 11:30 p.m. at the Philippine Heart Center in Quezon City, nearly a month after she underwent double bypass surgery.
Bro. Jun Banaag of DZMM read a message he had just received from Nova Villa saying her sister had passed on, and was "free of her pains."
Known as Myrna Villanueva in real life, she had been in the hospital since April and was battling kidney failure and aortic aneurysm.
The funeral is now being finalized by Tia Pusit's family.
In the recent months, the children had been raising funds for the treatment of the comedienne.
Tia Pusit was last seen on television in "Ikaw Lamang" as Kim Chiu's nanny. She was best known for her feisty comedic roles in a career spanning more than three decades.
