Manila, Philippines - Nine-year old kid from Tanza, Cavite Lyca Gairanod is now making the rounds online as she won Team Sarah Sing-offs for her powerful rendition of Tagalog version of Luther Vandross' "Dance with My Father."
In time for her fame in 'The Voice Kids', Youtube videos showing her performances before joining the hit television show of ABS-CBN surfaced online.
Lyca helped her mother scavenge junk to sell and perform for her neighbors for extra cash.
The Youtube video originally uploaded by Cherrlyn Argete in February 2013 shows Lyca singing Willie Revillame's "I Love You".
The video was captioned: "She's only 8 years old and she does junk collecting for a living. Pumupunta siya dito sa bahay upang humingi ng mga bote at pagkain. Habang nakain sila ng kapatid niya, naririnig namin siyang kumakanta so naisipan naming pakantahin siya. And here it goes."
"Kami po ay nangangalakal pag wala pong pasok. Ang ginagawa po namin, nanghihingi ng mga bote. Minsan, pinapakanta, binibigyan ng pera. Minsan, pagkain. Hindi naman po ako pinipilit ng ng nanay ko mangalakal, pero po ginugusto ko lang po para magkabaon po kami," said Lyca during The Voice Kids interview.
Another Youtube video was uploaded on June 9 this year by user Kim D. On this video, Lyca is belting out religious song 'Hesus'.
In her blind audition, Lyca performed Aegis' "Halik."
Hosted by Alex Gonzaga and Luis Manzano, "The Voice Kids" will have its Top 6 artists perform live starting this weekend at the The Newport Performing Arts Theater of Resorts World Manila.
