Gilas Last Home Stand, the biggest basketball charity event in the Philippines is set today, July 22 and on Wednesday, July 23 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, Quezon City. TV5 network will showcase the much-awaited sports action to every Filipinos as it airs the event on primetime starting at 8pm. It is also expected that free livestream channel will be available on both days.
The PLDT Last HOME Stand will be the last time of the Gilas Pilipinas in the country before they prepare for the 2014 FIBA World Cup in Spain and the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.
Gilas Pilipinas will be composed by Jimmy Alapag, LA Tenorio, Larry Fonacier, Gary David, Jeff Chan, Gabe Norwood and Jason Castro. The frontline will be manned by naturalized player Marcus Douthit, Japeth Aguilar, Junemar Fajardo, Ranidel de Ocampo and Marc Pingris. Providing additional firepower for the team are Kevin Alas, Garvo Lanete, Beau Belga, Jay Washington and Paul Lee.
With Gilas Pilipinas captain Jimmy Alapag looking to match skills with the top players of the United States, the Philippine pride will be thoroughly tested by the FIBR All-Stars comprised of the best US basketball players, led by Terrence Ross, Damian Lillard, Demar De Rozan, Kyle Lowry and Kawhi Leonard. Key additions to the team are Tyson Chandler, Ed Davis, Nick Johnson, Ed Davis, and James Harden.
