Manila, Philippines - Janet Lim Napoles felt insulted by speculations and denied that the bleeding that she experienced was caused by intimate contact, her lawyer Atty. Bruce Rivera said on Saturday, May 24, 2014.
Rivera said it is impossible for Napoles to have sex inside her room in the Ospital ng Makati (OsMak), noting that nurses always go in and out of her room.
"It is a fantastic and even a metaphysical claim because in the first place, what happened was the prosecution asked if it is possible that sex or intimate contact would have caused bleeding. So the doctors said it can be possible because siyempre if there is a wound and there is sex, then it can cause bleeding. But the doctors were very clear that there was no physical contact," he said.
In addition, Napoles' guards are present 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, Rivera said.
"Lubos siyang naiinsulto sa insinuation na nakikipagtalik siya... Paano mo yan ilalagay sa kondisyon niyang yun na pagod na pagod siya kakagawa ng affidavit plus sa sitwasyon niya sa ospital? Ang hirap magkaroon ng privacy doon," he said.
"Napakamalisyoso po ng idea na may sex involved... It's really demeaning on her part," he added.
During Friday's hearing on Napoles' urgent motion for an extended hospital stay, the Makati Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 150 asked Napoles' physician if other factors might have caused the bleeding.
Dr. Efren Domingo, Napoles' Gynecologist then said sex or intimate contact can cause bleeding. But he said he did not ask Napoles if she had sex while in confinement.
In a statement on Friday, Domingo said: "Because of her stress, her diabetes worsened, her blood sugar rose up to 200, she was stress, her personal crisis apparent on her face."
"Our patient, we should understand, is human, she has urges. I am not sure whether she might have engaged in sexual intercourse. I would say it was a private intimate moment or activity, "Domingo added.
