Manila, Philippines – GMA News on Saturday's edition of '24 Oras' aired interview with Deniece's grand uncle Rod Cornejo as he called on the model-stylist to surrender and face a serious illegal detention case filed against her by mauled actor Vhong Navarro.
“My dear Deniece, I'm appealing to you as your uncle. Please surrender. Don't wait, surrender,” Rod Cornejo said.
Mr. Cornejo revealed that Deniece is still communicating with him but has not told him where she is.
“'Yung mga sinabi mo sa akin na nangyari sa iyo tinatanggap ko na yan ang katotohanan, ngunit hindi rin tama na nagtatago ka sa batas. Para sa ikabubuti mo, sumuko ka na,” Mr. Cornejo expressed.
Mr. Rod also appealed to the public to stop bashing for his grand daughter. In social media, Deniece is much talked about after she was named as involved in the mauling incident.

“Imbis na tayo ay maghusga at manira at matuwa sa nangyayari sa kanila, isipin natin na tao rin sila at may mga karapatan,” he said.
On Friday, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) urged Deniece and 2 other suspects to surrender. NBI National Capital Region director Efren Meneses believes that Cornejo, Ferdinand Guerrero, and Jed Fernandez are still in the country.
Cornejo, Guerrero, and Fernandez are among the 7 accused in the controversial mauling of the actor. Other suspects include businessman Cedric Lee, Simeon "Zimmer" Raz, Bernice Lee, and Jose Paolo Calma.
Arrest warrants for serious illegal detention were issued by the Taguig Regional Trial Court against the group, with the exception of Bernice and Calma.
Cedric Lee and Raz have been arrested in Oras, Eastern Samar, while Calma is believed to have fled the country.
