Manila, Philippines – ABS-CBN is set to bring back the hit Taiwanese drama that started it all, the "Meteor Garden" expected this March 2014. This is part of the network celebration of its 10th anniversary of being the 'First and True Home of Asianovelas'.
Netizens on Thursday expressed their excitement for the comeback of 'Meteor Garden' in the Kapamilya channel. ABS-CBN refreshed the viewers memory as a teaser video titled “Meteor Garden: The Ultimate Throwback” was uploaded on Youtube.
On Twitter Philippines, users were abuzz with the news that the hashtag #MeteorGarden trended on Thursday.
ABS-CBN announced that 'Meteor Garden' rerun will start on Monday, March 31, 2014 after the noontime show It's Showtime. There will also be a primetime telecast on Jeepney TV at 8:00 pm.
ABS-CBN first aired 'Meteor Garden' in 2003 and became the highest-rating Asianovela in the country that usually reached over 50%.
This was not the first time the series made a return on Philippine television since it first aired in the country. ABS-CBN’s rival network GMA-7 acquired rights to air the Taiwanese soap opera in 2007.
Meteor Garden, which starred Barbie Hsu, Jerry Yan, Vic Zhou, Vanness Wu and Ken Chu is based on Japanese shōjo manga series, Boys Over Flowers (Hana Yori Dango) written by Yoko Kamio.
The story centers around a poor teenage girl named Shan Chai (Barbie Hsu), who at the insistence of her parents goes to a university for rich people. The university is dominated by Dao Ming Si (Jerry Yan), Hua Ze Lei (Vic Zhou), Mei Zuo (Vanness Wu) and Xi Men (Ken Chu), four rich but arrogant students collectively known as 'F4', short for 'Flower 4'. They are heirs to four rich and influential families in Taiwan. They terrorize the school by handing out red cards to those they do not like, which allows other students to bully the victims until they leave the school.
Even after the series ended, F4 continued to perform together and released three studio albums.
