Manila, Philippines - The weather bureau issued Red Rainfall Warning today, August 20, 2013 at 7:30AM. Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) enhanced by Tropical Storm 'Maring' brings heavy rains. SEVERE Flooding in Metro Manila and parts of Luzon is expected. We compiled here photos of flooding using #FloodPH and #mmda hashtags on Twitter.
According to scientists, Habagat rains that submerged Metro Manila is now worse than Typhoon 'Ondoy'.
PAGASA said that Heavy to torrential rains is affecting Metro Manila, Rizal, Laguna, Bulacan, Zambales, Cavite, Bataan, Pampanga and Occidental Mindoro. Meanwhile, moderate to heavy rains is affecting Batangas, Laguna and Quezon and most likely to continue for the next 3hrs.
In Metro Manila yesterday, people were forced to go to their rooftops while others were forced to swim in floodwaters in scenes eerily reminiscent of "Ondoy" and last year's habagat.
"ALL are advised to take precautionary measure and watch for the next advisory", PAGASA said.
