The Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) through the Department of Education (DepEd) announces on Friday that the DOST-SEI Science and Technology Undergraduate Scholarship exam for AY 2014-2015 is on September 22, 2013 (Sunday) in designated testing centers nationwide.

The scholarship is open to all qualified graduating high school students from public and private high schools nationwide. DOST offers two types of undergraduate scholarships - RA7687 for qualified applicants who belong to families with low socio-economic status and MERIT for qualified applicants regardless of their families' socio-economic status.
Criteria for Eligibility for RA 7687 Undergraduate Scholarship
1. natural-born Filipino citizen
2. poor, talented, and deserving student who belongs to a family whose socio-economic status does not exceed the set values of certain indicators.
3. top five percent (5%) of the regular high school graduating class; or
4. member of the graduating class of a DOST-SEI identified or DepEd recognized science high school.
5. resident of the municipality for the last four years as attested by the barangay;
6. of good moral character and in good health
7. qualifier of the 2014 S&T Scholarship examination
Criteria for Eligibility for Merit Undergraduate Scholarship
1. natural-born Filipino citizen
2. top five percent (5%) of the regular high school graduating class; or
3. member of the graduating class of a DOST-SEI identified or DepEd recognized science high school.
4. of good moral character and in good health
5. qualifier of the 2014 S&T Scholarship examination
Deadline of application form submission is August 23, 2013, DOST said.
August 22, 2013 Update: "Deadline for the filing of application forms and requirements for the 2014 DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship Examination has been extended until 28 August 2013 (Wednesday) due to the suspension of classes caused by the heavy rainfall and flooding in Metro Manila and several provinces in Luzon."- DOST-SEI announced on Twitter.
Application forms can be obtained at the Science Education Institute, 2/F Science Heritage Building, DOST Compound, Bicutan, Taguig City, DOST Regional offices or downloaded from the DOST scholarships website at http://www.science-scholarships.ph or here.
Accomplished form can be filed at the Science Education Institute or DOST Regional Office/PSTC nearest the applicant's school or home address.
Passers of 2014 DOST Scholarship exam will have the following privileges:
- tuition and other school fees ( P8,000/sem for RA7687 and Merit)
- book allowance of P5,000 per year
- PE uniform allowance of P500 for the first semester of the year
- transportation allowance
