Alaska Aces was crowned PBA Commissioner's Cup 2013 champion after beating Barangay Ginebra, 104-80. It's a 3-0 sweep on a best of five series game at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sunday, May 19.
The game was tied at 76 early in the 4th quarter before the Aces went on a 20-3 run to break the game wide open winning its first championship (14th overall) after Tim Cone's tenure with the Aces.
Best Import winner Robert Dozier dominated with 27 points, 20 rebounds, seven assists, and six blocks that led the Aces to achieve victory. Calvin Abueva added 22 points and 10 rebounds while Sonny Thoss contributed 13 points and 14 rebounds for Alaska, who dominated the boards, 64-50.
LA Tenorio carried the fight for Ginebra after posting 18 points. Import Vernon Macklin once again struggled, posting 12 points on just eight shots.
Sonny Thoss, 6'7" was awarded the Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP) after averaging 13.3 points and 10 rebounds in the best-of-five series.
With an attendance of over 23 thousand fans who watched at the Big Dome, Aces proved their tagline "Wala paring tatalo sa Alaska".
