LRTA and DOTC on it's official Twitter accounts announced there is NO LRT and MRT operations on Holy Week 2013. From Maundy Thursday, March 28 to Easter Sunday, March 31, passengers can expect unavailability of LRT 1, LRT 2 and MRT 3.
Hernando T. Cabrera, LRT Spokesperson and LRTA Board Secretary made announcement of the schedule. LRT 1 and 2 operations will resume operations on April 1 at 5 a.m, Cabrera said.
In a post of abs-cbnnews.com, LRTA officer-in-charge Emerson Benitez said "maintenance work will involve replacement of rails and catenary wires as well as cleaning and check-up of all LRT facilities, systems and equipment."
On the same day, DOTC announced schedule for MRT 3. Same with LRT, there will be no operations on March 28- March 31 and will resume on April 1.
LRT 1 stretches from Baclaran in Pasay City to Roosevelt in QC while LRT 2 covers from Recto in Manila to Santolan in Pasig City. MRT 3, on the other hand, runs along EDSA from North Avenue in Quezon City to Taft Avenue
