Still fresh in our minds the launch date and arrival in the Philippines of Apple's newest smartphone, the iPhone 5 but rumours are circulating over tech blogs that the next generation of iPhone dubbed as iPhone 5S or iPhone 6 is soon to hit worldwide mobile market. Features, specifications and possible price revealed from some reliable reports.
According to Topeka Capital Markets analyst Brian White, the iPhone 5S or iPhone 6 will be released in a variety of colors and screen sizes. Jeffries analyst Peter Misek and White revealed that the new iPhone will be available in 6-8 different colors.
"Our checks indicate that the next iPhone will have more choices for customers. This entails an expansion in both the color patterns and screen sizes with the next iPhone (i.e., likely called the iPhone 5S) that we currently believe will be launched in May/June with certain supply production starting in March/April."
It is also believed that Apple will shift into multiple sizes of screen in the single product release. This gives consumers the customized option for their prefer size, budget and needs.
"Although Apple offers a 4-inch screen on the iPhone 5 and a 3.5-inch screen on the iPhone 4S and iPhone 4, the Company has never offered multiple screen sizes for a single model. We believe this is about to change with the next iPhone offering different screen sizes that we believe will allow Apple to better bifurcate the market and expand its reach. This eventually opens up the possibility of a lower-priced iPhone (i.e., iPhone mini) with a smaller screen size that could allow Apple to further penetrate markets such as China and open up opportunities in India. At the same time, Apple could unveil a larger screen size compared to the recently updated 4-inch screen on the iPhone 5."
The iPhone 6 is expected to come with an HD display, NFC chip, and iOS 7, according to various rumors.
GottaBeMobile got its hands on the latest concept video by the aptly named ConceptsiPhone, which designed its version based on rumored specs and updated technology, such as the new iOS 7 user interface.
The big move by Apple according to reports is to cope up with the intense competition in the smartphone market and bring back the wow factor Apple once developed. Some reports hint that the iPhone 6 release is possible to be delayed to compete with possible release of Samsung Galaxy 5 by 2014.
May 26, 2013 Update: Announcement for the release date for iPhone 6 / iPhone 5S is expected on the last quarter of 2013. iPhone 6 worldwide release according to rumours could happen anytime in the first half of 2014.
Samsung via market researcher Strategy Analytics predicted to widen lead over Apple and says that global smartphone sales will jump 27 per cent to 875 million in 2013, with Samsung forecast to sell 290 million units (a growth of 35 per cent) to Apple's 180 million.
With the latest update, we could expect iPhone 5S or iPhone 6 in the Philippines by Q2-Q3 of 2014.
