MANILA, Philippines - Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) on Monday clarified that the list of top 20 schools in the Philippines for 2012 circulating online is FAKE.
The list came from UPLB Institute of Human Nutrition and Food Facebook page and was insisted a genuine study from PRC and CHED which is being conducted every 10 years.
Bazics.net wrote an article which says that PRC commended 20 schools (colleges and universities) as top academic institutions in the Philippines for 2012. It cites that 11 schools from Luzon, 7 from Mindanao and 2 from Visayas as among the best performing schools in producing top professionals through state board exams or licensure examinations.
From the list, it says that UP-Diliman remains the best university in the country followed by fellow branch schools, UP- LB and UP-Manila.
In the Facebook page of Bandila, it says that the two institutions confirmed there is no survey yet.
The post about best schools for 2012 got mixed reactions. Some says, even the source is not reliable but it reflects which schools are really best. Some also says that, majority of the schools in the list are those popular schools while some good-ranking colleges/ universities are not recognized.

The data according to Star came from CHED with study based on the standards and excellence of certain universities in the country. It said that the tertiary schools are being considered as centers of excellence and development, demonstrating "the highest degree or level of standard along the areas of instruction, research and extension."
