MANILA, Philippines - The De La Salle University (DLSU) opened the 2016 cheerdance competition (CDC) with the aim to finally get the crown on Saturday, November 19, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The DLSU Pep Squad had its lone podium finish in 2013, placing third behind National University and University of the Philippines.

Aside from DLSU Animo Squad, other teams who have competed in this year's CDC were UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe, NU Pep Squad, , Ateneo Blue Babble Battalion, FEU Cheering Squad, Adamson Pep Squad and UE Pep Squad.
UP Pep Squad skipped the 2016 competition as they have failed to reach a resolution with the competition’s organizer.
