Magnitude 5.0 earthquake jolts Metro Manila, nearby areas

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported a magnitude 5.0 earthquake that shook parts of Metro Manila and nearby areas on Thursday, November 10, 2016.

The exact time of occurrence was recorded at 03:10 p.m. with epicenter at 14.83°N, 121.41°E  24 km - N 70° W of General Nakar, Quezon.

The earthquake with tectonic origin has a depth of 13 kilometers.

The earthquake was felt at Intensity V in General Nakar and Infanta, Quezon.

Intensity IV was reported in Antipolo City; Angono, Rizal; and Real, Quezon.

Intensity III was reported in Quezon City; Marikina City; Manila City; Makati City; Tarlac City; San Juan City; Pasay City; Calumpit, Bulacan; Mandaluyong City; San Mateo, Teresa, Tanay, and Binangonan, Rizal and Pasig City.

Intensity II was experienced in Taguig City; San Ildefonso, Bulacan; Bacoor, Cavite; Pateros, M.M.; Paranaque City; Caloocan City; Valenzuela City; Baler, Aurora; Gabaldon and Nueva Ecija.

Meanwhile, it has Intensity I in Palayan City and Gapan City, Nueva Ecija.

Earlier, Phivolcs said that the earthquake has magnitude of 4.4.

Netizens have told The Summit Express on Facebook that they felt the earthquake in the following locations: Nueva Ecija, Mandaluyong City, Makati, Manila, Polilio (Quezon), Antipolo, Tanay and Taytay (Rizal).

There is no reported damage or injury after the quake but Phivolcs warned of possible aftershocks.
