Comedienne Joy Viado dies of heart attack

MANILA, Philippines - Comedienne Joy Viado died on Saturday evening, September 10, her bestfriend has confirmed to ABS-CBN News.

In a text message sent by Annette Lucido to ABS-CBN reporter MJ Felipe, she said that Viado joined her creator at 8:55 p.m. She was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital (Quezon City General Hospital) due to heart attack.

"We are still making arrangements. Will keep you posted once everything is final," Lucido added.


Viado was diagnosed with diabetes in 2000, and underwent four debridement surgeries to remove the wounds she suffering on her legs due to diabetes complications and to save her from eventual amputation.

She appeared in several comedy films like “Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy,” and played a leading role in an indie film entitled “MNL 143.”

She had acted also in TV shows including "Kokey At Ako," "Pidol's Wonderland," "Bagets: Just Got Lucky," "Wako Wako," "Got To Believe," and "LUV U."
