MANILA, Philippines - AlDub, the country's phenomenal loveteam of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza is making headlines once again for the box-office success of their second movie 'Imagine You and Me.'
In the partial results of opening day gross, GMA News has reported that the film earned nearly P13 million, with long queues of AlDub fans at the cinemas.
It has raked in P5,845,544 in Metro Manila and P7,020,889 in provinces, for a total gross of P12,866,433, according to figures released by APT Entertainment, the film's producer.
It was noted that the team's first movie 'My Bebe Love' topped the opening day of the 2015 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) as it earned P60,462,169.57 and was able to break records for the highest first day gross.
Meanwhile, the exact figure of 'Imagine You and Me' box-office sales is expected to be released in the coming hours as of press time.
UPDATE: Producer APT Entertainment announced that Imagine You And Me earned P21.5 million on opening day (P10,767,694 from the Metro Manila area and P10,735,390 from the provincial areas.)
In the movie, Alden plays the role of Andrew while Maine’s character is named Gara, two individuals who find each other in a foreign country.
The flick was released 3 days before AlDub's 1st anniversary on July 16. The popular loveteam first appeared through split-screen in the 'Kalyeserye' segment of GMA-7's noontime show 'Eat Bulaga.'
'Imagine You and Me' was directed by Michael Tuviera and co-produced by GMA Films, and M–Zet TV Production, Inc.
