MANILA, Philippines - Finally, ABS-CBN’s reality talent search “Pilipinas Got Talent” crowned a non-singer as acrobatic dancesport duo won as PGT Season 5 grand winner during the finals night on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Power Duo composed of real-life couple Anjanette and Gervin from Angono, Rizal bested eleven other finalists for the combined votes from the public and judges Freddie “FMG” Garcia, Angel Locsin, Robin Padilla, and Vice Ganda.
Power Duo received a whopping P2 million cash prize.
Fire dancer Amazing Pyra landed on second place while magician Ody Sto. Domingo got the third place.
Other performers who dominated this season include dance acts of Crossover Family, Mastermind, Sto. Tomas Bulilit Generation and Power Impact Dancers; singers Next Option, kiddie rock band The Chosen Ones, and young singer Kurt Philip Espiritu; and variety acts of motocross performers UA Mindanao and all-male acrobat group Dino Splendid Acrobats
Previous seasons' winners Jovit Baldivino, Marcelito Pomoy, Maasinhon Trio and Roel Manlangit were all singers.
The Megastar and The Voice Kids new judge Sharon Cuneta has performed during the results night.
The fifth season of the world renowned talent-reality franchise, which was hosted by Luis Manzano and Billy Crawford, premiered on January 23, 2016. It will be replaced by another reality show, The Voice Kids Philippines which is set to debut on May 28.
