The Tourism Office of the government of Quezon announced the schedule of activities and venues for the 2013 Lucban San Isidro Pahiyas Festival that started March 31 up to May 16.
Thousands of local and foreign tourists are expected to visit the historic town of Lucban specially on the 15th of May 2013. The festivity is a thanksgiving to San Isidro Labrador, the patron saint of farmers, for the bountiful harvest for the year.
This year's Pahiyas has a theme of “Yanung Rikit, Baling Ganda,”. The municipal government of Lucban through the Lucban San Isidro Pahiyas Festival executive committee headed by its honorary chairperson Mayor Moises B. Villasenor has scheduled different activities for the Pahiyas Festival.
Prior to the Pahiyas month, some of the activities includes Lucban Waterworld Festival 2013 which was held at the poblacion last March 31 and opening of 9th mayor’s cup basketball tournament held on April 2 at the Catholic church basketball court in Lucban town.
Other activities starting May 1- 14, 2013 are ‘Pagdisenyo ng Arangyang Kiping’ ; opening of Tiangge sa Lucban ; inauguration of municipal slaughterhouse and hatchery ; Lucban Langgonisa Festival 2013 ; championship-9th mayor’s cup- basketball tournament (junior division) ‘juego de anillo’ ; ‘Takbo sa Pahiyas’; ‘Lalahan ng Buntal Festival and ‘Higantes ng Lucban’.
Activities for May 15 include thanksgiving mass, procession and grand parade to be participated by PNP scort, marching band, local officials, senior citizens, ‘Parikitan’, ‘Pansit Habhab Fiesta-val, ‘Bigas Gayak’, sponsors motorcade and ‘Higantes ng Lucban’ which will be held along pahiyas route.
The awarding of Pahiyas contest winners will be on May 16, 2013 at Rizal Park.
