The Philippines has new no.1 highest grossing local film of all time based on actual box office revenues. Star Cinema and Viva Films produced 'Sisterakas' earned 339 million, already enough to surpass 2011 comedy film 'The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin' with 331.61 million in January 6, 2013 gross.
'Sisterakas' is now no. 1 local film in the Philippines with 7,845,060 USD gross (January 5) while 'Praybeyt Benjamin' total gross according to Box Office Mojo is 7,654,855 USD. The SummitExpress earlier predicted that a record will be made early on second week of January 2013 to topple 331.61 million peso revenue of 'The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin'.
Sisterakas is also listed as no. 6 all-time highest grossing foreign and local films in the Philippines. 'The Avengers owns the top spot with 14,382,992 USD gross.
'Sisterakas' topbilled by Philippines' top comedians Vice Ganda and Ai Ai delas Alas and Queen of all Media, Kris Aquino managed to beat 'Praybeyt Benjamin' record inspite that the movie is an entry to 38th MMFF. The latter is also produced by the Star Cinema and Viva Films Studios with Vice Ganda on the lead cast.
'Sisterakas' topped all-time highest grossing films that have been entered in the Metro Manila Film Festival, based on their actual box office revenues in Philippine Peso. It beats reacord of 'Enteng ng Ina Mo' with 237.88 million. Placing third is the heavy drama 'One More Try' also from ABS-CBN.
On January 6 post via microblogging site Twitter, Aquino thanks viewers for making the film the highest grossing Pinoy film of all time.
